I just received a very nice note from Gonçalo Ivo, a wonderful Brazilian painter who splits his time between Paris and Rio de Janeiro. He makes beautiful and complex geometric paintings with high-keyed color and chunky oil surfaces -- deep and vibrant, charged with cultural resonances and inclusive in scope. From the digital images, they bring to mind a marriage of Andean textiles and Paul Klee. Great studio too -- possibly a converted stable -- and admirably organized! Goncalo is also a new member of Geoform, and will soon be featured on that site. More on Gonçalo and his work to come....
